California Governor Reagan called Angela Davis bid for state funds to cover her murder defense "utterly ridiculous" while noting patient strain from repeated trial delays. Davis seeks about a million to fund lawyers as her Marin County Courthouse murder conspiracy case drags on with daily hearings starting January 1.
Sacramento reports an advisory panel to audit the State Division of Industrial Safety. Gov. Reagan said the Occupational Health and Safety Council will probe alleged lapses as field engineers accused supervisors of pro employer bias and ignoring contractor safety orders. Hatton resigned, but Reagan did not accept.
Gov. Reagan said a Sacramento doctor provides allergy care for his wife and son at no charge as a contribution. He spoke in response to a story in the State Hornet by Rose King noting the family receives free medical care from Dr. Charles H. Cutler of Sacramento Medical Clinic.
