Solon Urges Europe Guards Go to Vietnam

Senator Symington urged that any additional U.S. troops to Vietnam come from Europe rather than the United States. He criticized European defense forces and warned there would be few American troops left to defend the country. He opposed expanding U.S. divisions in Europe and cited Italy as supplying troops in Vietnam. He suggested a limited air sea quarantine could end the war sooner without more American casualties.
