Two Generators OK’d at San Onofre A plant

California Coastal Commission approves adding two 1 140 megawatt nuclear generators to the San Onofre Nuclear Power Station run by Southern California Edison Co. and San Diego Gas and Electric Co. The first new unit could start in 1979 with environmental safeguards and possible court challenges noted by opponents.

Radio's Superfan faces prison for trucking fraud

Edwin J. Bieler a radio personality known as Superfan was sentenced in Los Angeles to a year in federal prison after pleading guilty to 10 counts of filing false shipment claims with the Army and Air Force Exchange Service. He ran J D Transportation Inc which hauled beer and soft drinks to post exchanges in the Pacific then inflated weights and duplicated bills to claim over 1.5 million dollars.
