Jet crashes into garage near Perquimans High School

Two men were badly burned when a Navy FS Demon jet from Oceana Virginia struck a garage across from Perquimans High School in Hertford North Carolina. The plane burst into flames but no school children were harmed as witnesses described the impact near the baseball field. The pilot’s fate was not confirmed and the Coast Guard reported the jet’s origin.

Mefford, a 42 year old marine engineer, woke to discover his bride Dorothea Bauers Mefford dead after two days of marriage. He had planned to sail on the Navy tanker Chepachet at 4 30 am. Police said she had tuberculosis and the couple were from Los Angeles.

Admits Slaying Rival With Knife in Salt Lake City

A 57 year old man was stabbed to death on a Salt Lake City street. Police say Felix Salazar Maestas 33 admitted the killing after being taken into custody near the scene. Victim Gustave W. McCarter died of a heart wound in a parked car. Maestas, Trinidad Colo native, told police he found his wife with McCarter and killed him. He is now in custody for investigation of murder.
