Reenacted Kent State Shooting Tapes Visited by Investigators
Justice Department investigators re enacted the May 4 1970 Kent State shootings on campus using four officials and blank loaded M1 rifles. Tape recordings captured blasts from a small cannon like device as onlookers watched while Washington’s Birthday holiday kept most of the campus empty. Paul Lawrence said the aim was to compare with a nearby dormitory tape and present new recordings to the grand jury.
