Slander suit targets Nixon appointee Clements in Dallas
Argentine businessman Antonio Diaz filed a 15 million dollar slander suit in Dallas naming William P. Clements and Sedco Inc as defendants. Diaz alleges Clements made defamatory statements at a December news conference about an earlier 1966 federal suit and Diaz's role in an Argentine drilling project. Clements says the claims have no merit and will be defended in court. The 1966 case involved Sedco subsidiary Southeastern Drilling Co and alleged fraud over profits from drilling 1000 Argentine wells.
