Pueblo crewman’s body returned from North Korea seizure
Duane Hodges, 21, the sole Pueblo crewman killed when the intelligence ship was seized by North Korea, was welcomed home Thursday night in Creswell Oregon where more than 100 mourners waited in rain. A 36 man honor guard, pallbearers and family greeted the flag draped casket as funeral services were planned for Creswell Junior High School Saturday with burial at Creswell Cemetery.

Fire Fatalities After Exploding Stove Destroys Home
In Granville New York a wood stove explosion sparked a two story fire killing six residents. Only a 22 year old woman and her 5 year old grandson escaped, as neighbors aided the boy and mother. Fire victims include Joseph Bushee 32 and Edward Bushee 36, Nellie Williams 68 Fred Steele 65 Ruth Jane Sumner 5 and Walter Carl Sumner 10. The boy Thomas Bushee was rescued in his underwear. Firefighters and bystanders worked to evacuate and control the blaze amid extreme cold.

Deaths From Flu and Pneumonia Rise in December
