Father refuses hospital care for gravely ill daughter
In Richmond Indiana a father named Arthur Pippen refused pleas and hospital care for his 11 year old daughter Judy amid a Christmas vigil. Authorities and friends, including Judy's mother and siblings, tried doctors and workers to secure consent but the father stood firm citing religious conviction. Prosecutor Keller said there was no way to remove the child without Pippen's consent despite signs of acute appendicitis.
