After seven days of bargaining Lockheed machinists in the states will let the union rank and file decide whether to accept the latest offer and end a bitter 72 day strike. Strangler suspect cleared in Hillside case probe
An 11 year old San Pedro youth held by police in an alleged attempted abduction near Torrance has been ruled out as a Hillside Strangler suspect. Wayne Delano Plunkett, 21, an electronics technician of 29163 Trotwood Ave, was booked for investigation of attempted kidnapping but not tied to the Hillside killings. Police described the incident on 228th Street and Normandie Avenue where a man in a black and white car tried to force a 15 year old girl into the vehicle. A witness said two men posing as officers abducted the earlier victim. The 15 year old had not been located. The suspect’s appearance was described: Caucasian, brown hair, blue eyes, 6 feet 11 inches, 140 pounds, blue jacket, black trousers, white shirt with a print design. He was questioned by the Hillside Strangler task force but said to have no link to the killings.
