Anaheim Train Wreck Leaves Dozens Injured in Chaos
A passenger train derailed after a collision near Anaheim, causing extensive track damage and 400 feet of rail to be torn up. Flood Threat Keeps Families Out Near San Diego
Nine teen families living in a flood threatened zone across the border in south San Diego were ordered to stay away from their homes again Wednesday night. Pumps remove water from an earth fill dam in a Tijuana canyon facing the San Diego lowlands. Authorities fear a break could flood farm land with about 250 million gallons of water. Water is being pumped at 11,000 gallons per minute with more pumps slated to operate today. Willard Ericson, engineer in charge of pumping, stated evacuations remain in effect in the Smuggler's Gulch area as had been practiced since December.

Carson City the Nevada Gambling Commission has approved the plan for Sion L A and Howard Ludwig Stephan to regain control of Robert and G Ryad Miller's Carson City Nugget Boise Idaho. The Adams brothers previously held 55 percent of the stock since 1963 but sold down to 15 percent. Under the deal the stock will be sold to an Arizona landlord firm for 41 million, with the Adams brothers operating the casino under lease from the new owners, a Royal Properties Inc. subsidiary of Phoenix.
