Quake forecaster Minturn vows to stay quiet after forecast miss
Hawthorne physicist Dr Henry Minturn says he will stop making public earthquake predictions after his Dec 3 forecast failed to materialize as a large Pacific quake struck about 100 miles off Vancouver Island. He notes a sequence of quakes from Friday in Hawaii to Monday off Canada, aligned with his theory. The Berkeley Seismographic Station compares the North Pacific quake to the 1971 San Fernando event. Minturn says public awareness benefits come from his Dec 20 forecast public release.
