Hayakawa Warns of Agitators at California Campus
Governor Ronald Reagan vowed that anarchy will not prevail on California college campuses during a televised report. He blamed a strategy of takeover by Students for a Democratic Society and militant groups for attempts to destroy academic freedom. The Black Students Union and Third World demand minority control of ethnic studies programs, teachers, and enrollment eligibility at San Francisco State. They rejected Hayakawa's concessions as weekend rallies urged full grant of demands.

Apollo 8 Dress Rehearsal Delayed by Ground Tests
Ground equipment troubles delayed a critical Apollo 8 countdown rehearsal at Cape Kennedy. If this had been a real launch, it would have postponed the moon mission by a day though the Dec. 21 launch date remains intact. Engineers have six days to fix issues and stay on schedule. The test began four days ago, covering the rocket and spacecraft except ignition, and was the last major prelaunch check before the real countdown. A Sunday night computer and ground system problem, plus four ground liquid oxygen pump faults, pushed the simulate launch back over seven hours into the afternoon, with only a five hour launch window for a real flight.
