Long Beach Laborer Faces Auto Murder Trial Date Set
A Long Beach laborer accused of killing his wife by driving a car into a concrete abutment on the Santa Ana Freeway in Anaheim will stand trial in Orange County Superior Court on January 29. The judge denied a motion to dismiss the grand jury indictment against Charles F. Davis, 27, and set the trial date. Davis was arrested by Anaheim police after highway patrol officers investigated the crash in which his wife Merry Judith and their three children were in the car. one son, James, 5, was injured.

Trio Forfeits Bail After Dice Game
Three men who allegedly joined a dice game at a Virginia country club posted and forfeited bail of 26.25 dollars each in Municipal Court Monday. Unemployed construction engineer Earl Sullivan 55 of 5508 Toledo Avenue and William McMullen 38 of 283 Sting Avenue faced three counts of felonious child beating. Joseph Greenleaf also known as Cecil Ivan Price 30 of 1380 Ohio Avenue was jailed on 5250 dollars bail after arraignment. The injured children, under care of Joan Price, were placed in juvenile protective custody.
