Investors Forum on High-Priced Stocks and Income Gaps
A discussion notes that many high priced growth stocks trade at rich multiples despite modest yields. It cites IBM as a case, where a retiree could sell 100 shares for sixty thousand dollars to reinvest at 4 to 5 percent for steady income, exposing the lure and risk of price levels in conservative portfolios. It argues retirees seek income, but markets favor growth stocks with low yields.
