Federal judge urges one final push on killer light
A federal judge urged industry and government to join a final effort to warn consumers about the dangerous TIME ALIGHT lamp. District Judge George L. Hart Jr indicated reluctance to force the manufacturer and distributors to buy ads on TV and in papers, preferring voluntary public awareness. He proposed a big TV networks push, saying the light is a simple death trap and action is needed to protect the public. Time Alight, sold for $1.60, by A K Electronics of Brooklyn, about 186000 units on market, has caused electrocution risk and at least one death in Florida. He ordered sale and distribution halted pending further steps.

Probe ordered on gun bounty funds
Baltimore comptroller Hyman A Pressman orders audit of the police gun bounty program amid concerns over funding and possible abuses. Police pay 50 per gun and 100 for tips, with about 3 000 guns collected and 250000 paid. The aim is to ensure funds come from an authorized revolving source and prevent cross state line trafficking.
