Mexican president's father-in-law abducted in Guadalajara

Police and troops searched Guadalajara and Jalisco for the 2 year old father in law of Mexico's president and the guerrillas who kidnapped him. Reports say kidnappers demanded 1.6 million dollars and release of political prisoners in exchange for the man known as Zuno Hernandez. The abduction occurred at 9 20 am near the state government building as four gunmen pulled him from a car and sped off, tear gas deployed. The incident follows a pattern of guerrilla activity and poses a challenge to President Echeverria who has said no negotiations with kidnappers. State officials denied ties to the group, though suspicions linger after prior kidnappings.
