Market slides as stocks drop on inflation fears
The New York United States stock market extended its three week slide with a 9.77 point Dow drop to 9177. The loss came amid investor frustration over inflation and looming labor day weekend. Pan American World Airways led volume on the New York Stock Exchange as traders watched for a possible federal subsidy to avert a crisis. First Charter Financial fell as a large block traded at 544.
