County OKs solar heating for pool
Los Angeles County supervisors approve a full scale solar heating system for 35 pools after tests by the mechanical department showed two of 13 panels raised a pool temperature by 20 degrees daily. The Salazar Park pool will get the first system, a 180000 gallon medium facility, promising daily gas savings and lower fuel costs for the county.

County May Offer 5 Cent Tax Rate Break
Los Angeles County taxpayers may face a smaller tax increase after officials reported a surplus could reduce the rate by about 5.18 cents per $100 of assessed value.
