Torrance council acts on Madronna Marsh issue
The Torrance council selects a light manufacturing designation with an open space overlay for 184.5 acres of undeveloped land west of Geuushay Boulevard, while delaying major zoning changes. Ecologists urge full marsh preservation but owners oppose loss of rights without compensation. A continued meeting is set to address open space and habitat studies with state and federal grant considerations.

Action delayed on curb v vacant gas station in Long Beach
Long Beach City Council postponed a decision on curb requirements for a vacant ARCO gas station run by Inner City Ministries. The group seeks driveways instead of curbs to allow future operation, with legal practicality and liability concerns raised by the city attorney. The delay stands for two weeks while the group seeks a workable legal path.
