Jackson says farm export zeal drives food shortages
Senator Henry M. Jackson of Washington charged that the Nixon administration’s emphasis on farm exports has raised prices for nearly all foods. He cited three days of hearings on the Soviet grain sale, said foreign sales will continue to push prices higher, and criticized the Agriculture Department for lacking data on total grain exports. He warned shortages may worsen until policy shifts.
