Judge orders Kansas mother to pay child support
In Wyandotte County Kansas City District Court Judge C Q Claflin ordered Sherry Lynn Walker to pay $10 a week in child support for four children aged 2 to 8 after ruling she abandoned her family in August 1972. He granted the ex-husband custody of the children and their household goods and a 1962 auto, saying equal treatment was proper in the first such case of his 17 years on the bench.

Police and dissident workers seize Chrysler plant
DETROIT UP I reports police entered the Mack Avenue stamping plant early today and arrested two dissident workers who sparked a rebellion that halted production for over 80 hours. The takeover began Tuesday with about 200 men refusing to work, shrinking to 30 by police action, with one man accused of attacking two officials with a metal pipe.

Short terms in loan fraud case tied to fake collateral
In Los Angeles two men received prison terms for defrauding Bank of America of about 2.9 million by securing loans with phony collateral. Kenneth N. Dellamater, 60, got three months. Robert D. Pollock, 45, received two years. Dellamater, an attorney from Canoga Park, and Pollock, a Long Beach businessman, used documents claiming salvaged ocean copper and lead cable as collateral. The cable was allegedly taken by black marketeers in the late 1950s. Edward Snead, 48, a former Bank of America vice president, was convicted and awaits sentencing.

Medical aid flown to seaman aboard Jarilla
A Coast Guard Air Force medical evacuation mission was launched to aid the stricken first mate of the Norwegian freighter Jarilla, 725 miles southwest of San Diego. Two medically trained parachutists will drop near the 537 foot ship and be taken aboard to treat the captain reported the stomach condition. A Long Beach cutter Venturous and a San Diego helicopter team with refueling rendezvous to transfer the men plan to reach the Jarilla by midnight.
