Fallout real peril in nuclear war warned by Libby
Dr Willard F Libby of the Atomic Energy Commission warned that fallout is the real danger in atomic and nuclear warfare. He said cities can be washed off and that removing the top inches of soil absorbing radioactivity remains unsolved. He projected 10 years for fallout from stratospheric blasts to reach Earth and doubted danger from cumulative high altitude tests.

Separated in War After 17 Years Finds Her Mother Alive
Mrs. Alice Kingston of Dallas said KRLD helped her hear her mother’s voice after 17 years. They had been separated in 1942 during World War II when Kingston's husband and she sailed to the Philippines to pay for passage. Her mother, interned in a Manila camp, spoke broken English and hoped to come to Dallas if a way could be found to pay her passage. Her father, a U S Navy man, was killed when his ship was bombed in Manila Bay.
