Young Charlotte Girl Wins Bravery Medal for Fire Rescue
Rosa Linda Espin, seven, and her brother Carlos, five, survived a Charlotte house fire on March 20, 1963. They climbed a ladder under brave aid from neighbor Russel Jones and Reid Black, who helped pull others to safety. Rosa Linda received the 22nd Young American Medal for Bravery at the White House on June 30, 1965, awarded by President Johnson.
