Airlines gain CAB approval for fare increases
The Civil Aeronautics Board approved an eight tenths of 1 percent raise for all domestic airlines and an additional five tenths of 1 percent for five carriers. Eastern American Western Pan American and TWA will take the extra hike with final rates to be set as others file. The move, the third CAB rate rise this year, aims at 11.6 percent return on investment for the carriers despite objections from the National Passenger Traffic Association.
