County Board Orders Short-Range Transit Plan
Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors ordered a short-range public transit plan to be developed by the county road commissioner the chief administrative officer and the transportation commission. The plan aims to provide an economical efficient dependable system within two to three years while longer projects such as the Downtown People Mover Wilshire Corridor and bus-on-freeway options proceed over five to ten years.

County labor contracts delay again by Los Angeles board
Los Angeles County supervisors postponed Tuesday’s vote on a two year labor contract package covering about nine percent of the county workforce. Absences by Hayes Hahn and Edelman kept a needed majority from forming as Peters Schabarum and Baxter Ward opposed the pact. County officials say the average worker benefit would be around 5.8 percent, below the governor’s 7.5 percent state allowance and private sector settlements.
