Teens in Action built from youth efforts to aid Marines
Teens in Action began as a student government project to aid Marines in Vietnam, later reorganized at Marshall Junior High to fund wildflower seeds and a Nature Center, then shifted to broader city wide youth coordination. Adults balanced support with district policy concerns while students repeatedly formed and disbanded the group to pursue hands on fundraising and community projects.

Experts cite NY studies showing high mortality from window falls, especially in summer, and advise limiting opening to four to five inches, removing handles, securing screens, avoiding beds near windows, and using guards while keeping an escape route in mind.
