Look Who's Cooking Roy They Summer in Ghost Town
Long Beach State College wintered out and the Cerveny couple retreat to Lakeview Idaho each June. George Cerveny, leader of the college language arts division, and Mildred serve on local arts boards as they describe their remote summer home. Lakeview, a aging mining town, hosts about 30 families in summer with a one room school, no state utilities until recently, and a mail boat delivering groceries across Lake Pend Oreille. The couple recounts canyon vistas, fish, berry picking, and a Kidney Bean Salad recipe adaptable for gatherings.
