Fifth day of strike at Norwalk hospital by 70 workers
Picketing continued at Norwalk's Studebaker Hospital as 70 striking workers stayed off the job for the fifth day. Hospital administrator Dan Hill said the strike does not affect patient treatment since it excludes nurses and doctors. Total hospital staff is 200 and replacement workers had been flown in from Texas, Oregon and Washington. The Service Employees International Local 399 members voted April 11 to strike after the contract expired, but began picketing Thursday. Hill said patient care remains uninterrupted and vacancies have been covered.
