Caltrak Expands LA to San Diego Train Service

Due to rising passengers Caltrak adds a second state backed train between Los Angeles and San Diego starting Thursday Adriana Glantureo state Station Department director said Amtrak runs three more daily trains on the route The Caltrak system began last September under state legislation subsidizing services from San Francisco to Sacramento and Stockton The legislation allocated 9.2 million for projects and subsidy runs about 40000 monthly Caltrans spokesmen said Before September three trains carried about 25000 passengers a month. with four trains last month the figure rose to 53000.
