Calif seeks Supreme Court ruling on border with Nevada
SACRAMENTO The State Lands Commission will ask the U S Supreme Court to settle a decade old dispute over where the state line runs from Lake Tahoe north to Oregon. Deputy state attorney Allen Goodman said documents were filed in Sacramento seeking review and certification of California’s northern boundary, a dispute spurred by six possible line interpretations from five surveys and a mathematical projection. The case could affect ownership of three Nevada casinos and potentially eighty plus square miles, yielding millions in tax and revenue for California. The high court might decide in June whether to hear the appeal and could issue a ruling in its 1977 78 session.
