Marches and Rallies Grow for Poor People's Campaign
Atlanta reports new expansion of the Poor People's Campaign led by Rev. Ralph D. Abernathy successor to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The plan includes nationwide rallies and a wagon train of muledrawn carts to Washington, with bus caravans through the South and major demonstrations in Washington beginning May 20. The campaign aims for jobs for all employable Americans and a guaranteed annual income for those unable to work.
