Red Line Advised for Coast Freeway Segment in Orange County
State Highway Engineer J C Womack recommended the Red Line route for the Pacific Coast Freeway in Huntington Beach Seal Beach area amid potential public hearings. The eight lane project in Orange County would cost about 60 million dollars, including 7.5 miles of PCF and a 2.9 mile San Gabriel Freeway connector. The inland route runs from Beach Boulevard to the San Gabriel Freeway, loops near Edwards Street and Ellis Avenue, then follows Edinger Saybrook to Holl CHica Channel and toward Bay Boulevard near the Naval Weapons Station. It would terminate as the Garden Grove Freeway on Los Alamitos Flood Control Channel land.
