In New Orleans a 28 known remaining whooping cranes are in captivity at Audubon Park Zoo with a pair at the zoo and a single bird in San Antonio. The zoo director says there is a good chance the newborn egg will hatch as researchers note the incubation lasts about 30 days and one chick vanished last year.
