Eisenhower pushes $1.34B budget cut amid call for larger trim

President Eisenhower urged Congress to cut 1.342 billion dollars from the 1958 budget and suggested potential reductions up to 1.858 billion. Precipitation totaled .39 inch for Long Beach, season total 5.72 inches versus 12.17 inches last year.

Busy Safecrackers Hit Cleveland Jewelry Shop

Police say two burglars hammered through two concrete walls and used an acetylene torch to breach a safe at Wooland's Gold and Silver Shop in downtown Cleveland. They fled with diamonds, jewelry and cash totaling about $162,000, according to owner Erwin Wooland.
