Bombed vessel Carly Star raised after night crane effort
At 5 a.m. Carly Star was lifted by a derrick barge and six inflatable airbags as it was towed across the harbor. A 165 ton weight was measured while the middle deck remained awash, after earlier attempts to raise the 156-foot ship failed when underwater chains entangled in pilings. A second barge crane and a marine ways cradle would position the ship for pumping and inspection on railway tracks.
