Mr and Mrs Jim Butler of Long Beach celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a Sunday gala in Morgan Hall. The couple married April 14 1907 in Scranton Iowa. About 160 World War I veterans from Bar Racks 354 and 140 auxiliary members joined 100 guests for the event. Butler is World War I Veterans department commander. Hostesses were members of the analigry drill team. The Butlers have three daughters Maxine Dorning Isabel Oldham and Reva Butler a granddaughter and two great grandchildren.
More than 50 friends gathered Sunday at 389 Roswell to felicitate Merida A Maxwell Sr. on his birthday. Attendants included Mrs. Maxwell, James E Son, Clare Eberhart, S M Wolcott, S A Chapel, and young Maxwell relatives. Maxwell has lived in the city since 1923 and belongs to Elks Lodge 888 and Long Beach Commercial Travelers. Also congratulated by sister Mrs. R H Perry of Jacksonville and brothers, Elaine Maxwell and family, plus sons Howard of Terrell and Vernon of Long Beach.
