Soviet flight tests raise fears of space based weapons
Washington reports that Moscow appears to be flight testing a maneuverable rocket stage that could release bombs from orbit or place instruments on the moon. Three Cosmos launches in 1967 1968 inclined 65 degrees show low earth orbits then rising to about 500 miles. Observers discuss links to FOBS and possible shift to MOBS with warheads kept in space for extended periods or recalled in crisis.
