The Prescott gathering drew 160 voters, about half Democrats, in a dramatic informal ballot. Gibbs 20 Seco 29 Maxeon 47 Cambey led after formal tally with 56 for Maxson and 1 for Cambey, shown as a strong Democratic push for Cambey. Critics warn the effort may alarm administration supporters and delay appointments.

State of Wisconsin jury notice announces a drawing on April 25 1861 at 10 a.m. at the Clerk of Court office Prescott to select Grand and Petit jurors for the May 1861 circuit term. The notice is signed by Clerk Smith R. Gunn or W. J. Sara. The surrounding copy discusses local business improving with Fairbanks scales and rail routes via Prairie du Chien, with agents Barnes & Hutchins and O. S. Hutchinson. mentions river packets and La Crosse Milwaukee Chicago connections.
The county building committee invites sealed proposals for erecting a county building at the new county seat. Proposals due by May 15, 1861, with the lowest acceptable bid within authority.
