Golden Wedding Dinner for Thad Gill and Wife

A large Golden Wedding celebration honored Mr. and Mrs. Thad Gill on the eve of March 2 at their Camden Arkansas home. Fifty guests attended a four course dinner served on a long table with old gold decor and narcissus. Mr Gill born in South Carolina and Mrs Gill born in Tennessee, aged 76 and 70, marked a long marriage.

Requisition Refused over Oklahoma Governor's Papers

Governor C N Haskell of Oklahoma refused to grant the requisition papers for George Wilkins of Argenta now at Muskotee, replying to a long letter from Governor Pindall explaining the refusal. The action followed information presented to a justice of the peace in Hill town.

Faith healer Stone Faces Farm Penalty After Arrest

Stone, a faith healer and palmist with fifteen years in the vocation, was jailed after being found in a room with three African Americans. Judge Ratteree ordered sixty days on the farm and a fifty dollar fine. The arresting officer noted the man was washing a buggy earlier. The case mirrors wide city police friction, with mention of future employment in Little Rock.

Hill to Resume Arkansas Supreme Court Post in April

Improved health prompts Chief Justice Joseph M. Hill to return from Deland Florida and take his place on the Arkansas Supreme Court bench on the first Monday in April. A letter to friends says he is much improved as Lee Allen of Hope visits town briefly.

Two messages from reliable parties at Hope report no word from Messrs Sutton and Bowden who left Tuesday night for Shawneetown Alabama to identify a negro thought to be Will Green. It is believed a definite report may come by morning.

Hot Springs March 11 Gip Witt of Montgomery county announced his bid for state senator against County Judge O H Sumpter. Witt did not file his pledge on time with the State Executive Committee, but informed sources say he will still be placed on the ticket.

Miners Strike at Western Coal in Denning Arkansas

About 1000 miners walked out at the Western Coal Mining Company mines in Denning Arkansas. They protested the company’s refusal to hire new shotfirers and pressed the issue toward a settlement via the United Mine Workers of America convening in Indianapolis.
