Two White Men Die in Chicago Race Riot
In Chicago’s South Side Black Belt a riot after a parade of negroes followed a white man’s slur. Two white men were killed and several blacks, including a negro policeman, wounded as police struggled to contain the disturbance. Chief Garrity reported no expected renewal.

South Carolina Warehouses Rapidly Expanding Under Arkansas Plan
The American Cotton Association reports over 300 warehouses in South Carolina with capacity to store about 97 percent of the state’s cotton crop this fall. Licensed graders will classify 95 percent of the crop, stored under the Arkansas Plan with samples kept at warehouse and state headquarters for easy bidding by buyers. The system aims to simplify purchasing, protect stored cotton, and help small growers access large bids. Local notices also seek a fine room residence.
