Gas Fire Tragedy Claims Three Women in El Dorado

Three women burned when a gas well near El Dorado exploded. Ann Brown aged 22 Josephine Gaughan 21 and Margaret Ramsey 33 died or were seriously burned. Fred Hays and A L Wolfort among others injured. Cause under investigation with speculation on a match spark or train ember.

Health statistics show violent deaths and drowning rise

Dr W Garrison reports vital statistics from the Health Department, noting only about sixty percent of deaths are reported. Three More Women Lawyers Graduate in Arkansas

Little Rock on June 15 reports that three more women have graduated from the Arkansas law school. Helen Humphrey Arnelle Burnside and Mary Blakeney, all of Little Rock, join the legal profession. Burnside is a niece of ex Governor Hays and a stenographer for Associate Justice Humphreys. Humphrey is temporarily employed as a stenographer in the Bank Commissioner’s office and plans to practice law. Interstate Commerce Commission inspectors Keegan and Priest are in the city assessing freight operations and good roads program prospects.

Two Blevins Citizens Arrested on Prohibition Charge

Two Blevins men, Dully Gorham station agent and O Ayott planter, were jailed in Texarkana on liquor sales charges under the federal Prohibition Law. Gorham was nabbed at Blueville by officers Davis Cantley and Steele and Ayott was seized in Texarkana after a jailhouse questioning. A search of the Blevins depot uncovered two gallons of whiskey.

Moore and McBride Married in Texarkana Ceremony

Mrs Florence Moore of near Detroit Texas wed W H McBride of this city at Texarkana last Sunday. They returned to Prescott that night and plan to reside in a home near the high school. The groom owns Prescott Marble and Granite Works and has resided here about a year.

Bank of Mountainburg Closes Doors In Crawford County

Little Rock reports the Bank of Mountainburg in Mountainburg Crawford County closed its doors yesterday with capital stock of 10 000. J W Walker served as president and E E Morris as cashier.
