Orville Wright and others received the gold medals from President Taft in a White House ceremony praised for aviation feats. Distinguished scientists officials and military members attended in a crowded East Room as the recipients thanked the gathering and prepared to depart for Dayton.
The governor is expected to act over several days on the adjutant general matter in Arkansas. A decision on whether J. J. Taylor of Patan will continue to serve hinges on a new law requiring officers to be experienced in military service.
The governor may prepare a berth for Major Tasyeer, shifting him from the military department. The governor will announce appointments of both adjutant general and assistant adjutant general.
A bond of 250 by 41 Nevada County property holders funds a special election on July 10 to decide on a four wire fence under a bill from Senator MehKenzie. Supporters moved to use the bond to guarantee the vote, while opponents of a stock law suspected they would drop the option.

Texarkana June 11 The second day of the conference for the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen was led by J M Briehouse. The session adjourned at 6 pm and resumed tomorrow morning. Vice President Shea announced the union endorsed its Texas and Pacific dispute stance and demanded fair treatment and equal rights for engineers without special privileges.

Pine Bluff chosen as next meeting site. H J Holderness re-elected president with R A Drain C A Roth W F Meissner Geo R Oberman among officers and J T Brickell named treasurer.
Stimulated by a fruitful strawberry season in the western counties, local horticulturists launch a movement to establish the industry at scale in Dardanelle. A stock company aims to plant one hundred acres of berries, with FR Robinson and DH Bray as chief promoters.
