Parole Granted to Jacob Meadows in Forgery Case

The Penitentiary Board on June 8 granted parole to Jacob Meadows of Crawford County. Convicted eighteen months ago of forging the name of his deceased aunt to a deed near Van Buren, he received a four year sentence. Meadows has claimed innocence and worked at the state capitol during confinement.

University Trustees Meet in Fayetteville Monday

University trustees from Little Rock and Dallas Herndon will travel to Fayetteville for a board meeting that may adjourn around June 15. President J N Tillman’s term ends June 80 and while not officially seeking re election he is considered a candidate. Some members favor paying a high salary to secure a top man, arguing it is a sound investment akin to funding the Insane Asylum and an alienist salary.

Miss Royston Honored With Home-Style Bridal Party

Miss Royston celebrated her pending marriage with forty guests at Miss Logan’s home. Mrs. Royston of Washington and Mrs. Battle of Fulton attended along with family. The party featured a rock cutting game, prizes for high score, a luncheon, and a cake opening revealing small gifts for the home.

State Capitol Controversy Heads to Court Over Contract

Caldwell and Drake sue the State Capitol Commission led by Governor Donaghey in Pulaski Circuit Court for 250000 alleging breach of contract on the 1908 agreement to build the new state capitol. They claim they were ousted from the project and seek damages plus trespass claims.

Death of Rev. T. H. Ware Led Camden Methodist Community

The Rev. T. H. Ware presiding elder of the Methodist church in this district died at 4 AM of heart failure after months of ill health and recent surgery in Little Rock. Born in Taladega Ala March 20 1846 he served as Confederate soldier and long time church leader. Survived by wife Fanny Cook Ware and six children, his funeral at First Methodist Church in Little Rock this afternoon.

Victim of Auto Buried Camden June 7 Funeral

George W. Brown killed in El Paso when an automobile struck him as he boarded a street car. He died from meningitis after unconsciousness. Services were held at Greenwood Cemetery with Ouachita camp of W O W. and Methodist pastor Rev T O Owen officiating. Brown survived by his wife two daughters his mother Mrs J W Brown and siblings.

Automobile Licenses Delinquent in Little Rock

June notices show most automobile owners paid late with about 60 delinquents versus last year. Secretary Hodges prompt action with prosecutors boosted payments to fifteen to twenty licenses daily. Legislature may empower cities to collect licenses within their limits.
