Tenth Session of Boilermakers Convened for Ten Days

The tenth biennial session of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers opened at the Hotel Marion with officers and prominent leaders from across the country. International President J A Franklin of Kansas City arrived to supervise preliminaries as the gathering promises ten days of sessions and welcome addresses by Mayor E Taylor and Senator Jeff Davis.

Attorney Sues Officer in Third Damages Suit

Attorney Oscar L Winn files the third suit for damages against Police Judge Tweedy for 20000 due to a false arrest on June 7 2011. Officer George Hubbard is named as party defendant. The suit alleges the arrest was to protect Tweedy and Hubbards reputations as attorneys.

Quarterly teacher examination set for Prescott June 20 21

Moving Operations to Union Station

Agent Oliphint of the Iron Mountain Railroad orders transferring all rail services to the newly completed Union Station tonight. Train 3 arriving at 8:50 will mark the start of stopping at the new station. The Prescott & Northwestern line runs between the main line and depot with an early morning move at 3:15 a.m. The old station will be relocated south to East Front and Pine streets and converted into a freight station.

Central Bank and Trust Company opens in Little Rock

The fourteenth bank in the city is organized. Central Bank and Trust Company opens at 211 West Capitol Avenue with Ben D. Schadd as president and M. C. Martin as cashier, both noted local executives.

Arkansas Lumbermen's Association Opens Two Day Session

Little Rock June 10 The Arkansas Lumbermen's Association convened at 10 o'clock today at the Hotel Marion for a two day session. Mayor C E Taylor and Carl Baer delivered welcome addresses, with L R Putman of Fayetteville the president delivering the response. A F Parkerson of Wagoner Okla president of the Southwestern Lumbermen's Association spoke on experiences of a pioneer lumberman. Tomorrow Gov Donaghey was to speak on fair treatment for a contractor and Bolling Arthur Johnson of Chicago editor of the Lumber Trade Review spoke. A Hoo Hoo concatenation was planned for Tuesday afternoon followed by a banquet.

New Jersey Zinc Mines At Franklin In 1911 Output

The Franklin Furnace zinc mines in Sussex County New Jersey continued strong production in 1911 per U S Geological Survey, with New Jersey Zinc Company treating 600,168 short tons and shipping 67,206 tons of crude ore. Total recoverable zinc output reached 154,590,900 pounds valued at 28,781, an increase from 1910. The mine crushing plant handles 2,240 net tons daily and the separator over 1,100 tons.

Funeral of Rev. T. H. Ware in Little Rock

The funeral for Rev. T. H. Ware, a leading Methodist minister, was held Sunday at his church in Little Rock. He died in Camden last Friday. Born March 20, 1546 in Tala dega Alabama, he had lived in Arkansas since before the War. He was a Confederate veteran and a member of the Southern Educational Board, a dominant church figure in Arkansas.

Immanuel Baptist Church Dedication Honors City’s Largest Hall

The Immanuel Baptist church dedicated a new edifice costing about 50000 dollars. The dedication featured a sermon by Rev. George W. Truett of Ft Worth. Rev. O J Wade led years of effort. the citywide Baptists joined in Sunday services. The church seats 2300.

County Institute Notice for Nevada County Teachers

New Presbyterian Church Nears Completion

The new church on East Elm between Second and Third Streets appears nearly finished this week. Built by J A Sullivan of Hope at a cost of 310 000, it offers a handsome interior and convenient arrangement after a year without a worship site due to a prior fire. Services began in the building this Sunday and seats may be completed next week.

Strike is Over Little Reel

Journeyman plumbers returned to work after an amicable settlement with master plumbers. Eight of eleven demands were conceded. three were rejected: the wage increase from 4.50 to 5 per day, and prohibitions on steamfitters handling gas fitting and plumbers doing steam fitting.

Alexander to be Hanged August 30 in Pine Bluff

Governor Donaghey may intervene as W C Alexander faces execution for the July 1 1911 killing of J P Kelly in Pine Bluff. Insanity plea rejected. he was deemed sane at trial and is held in the state penitentiary awaiting possible commutation.
