Burglars Loot Prescott Homes In Nighttime Incidents

A rash of burglaries strikes Prescott last night with thefts at R L Blakely on East Main Street and at Mrs Otis Cantley's residence. A gold watch and fob, a pocket knife, and small sums were taken while entry was gained via window screen and a long pole from other homes. No injuries reported.

Hays Suit Aims to Compel Court in Lafayette County

Hays has filed in the Arkansas Supreme Court to force Judge George W. Hay of the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit to hold court in Lafayette County beginning the fourth Monday in July. Hay had said Governor Pindall's veto of the transfer of the county to the Eighth Circuit is legal.

Two White Men Arrested for Car Break at Fulton

East Side police arrested two white brake men, Nunn and Evans, in Hempstead County on charges of breaking into a box car at Fulton and stealing five quarts of whiskey and five pairs of shoes. Recovered goods were found at Clear Lake.

The Arkansas penitentiary board met in Little Rock on June 4. All routine matters were disposed of and a contract was awarded to W. L. Reaves for 100 convicts at $1.00 per day, despite objections from Attorney General Kirby.
