Death by self inflicted pistol shot shocks Newport
William T. Dunn, manager of the Southern Cotton Oil Co plant in Little Rock, killed himself at Capt. J. H. McHugh’s Newport home this morning. The bullet passed through his head. Dunn, a frequent visitor to Newport, left no note. He was to wed Miss Dove Erwin next Wednesday. wedding invitations were issued. The motive remains a mystery to friends.

Burglars Blow Safe in Emmet Store
A January night burglary in Emmet Arkansas used soap, crow bar, pick and nitro glycerine to blow open W C Allen store safe at 2 am. Nearly nothing was taken except a few cigars from a front case. Two strangers seen in town Thursday evening suspected as the culprits. one bought cheese and crackers then fled toward the depot.
