Bank of Prescott proclaims strong stockholders in Prescott region with large capital and conservative management. It highlights burglar insurance and bonded officers, naming Thos. McRae as President and multiple officers including Thos. C. McRae Jr and Wm. Y. Foster among staff.
In Clark County the sheriff election pits 22 year incumbent J H Abrams against former Clark Representative L G C Newberry. Both men are well known in the county and campaigns are described as among the warmest in local history with a close, clean canvass expected. The outcome will draw considerable local interest.
Lee Helder, 19, who faced execution for the murder of his father Rev. B. L. Helder, a prominent Presbyterian minister, was granted a nine day reprieve in Nashville. He warned against cigarette use, saying it contributed to his crime in a final, sobering appeal.
The Farmers Educational and Cooperative Union in Memphis adopts rules: any officer seeking political office must resign from the union, and those holding both union and political posts must quit the political office. A plan to build two factories east and west of the Mississippi for cotton bagging and wrapping materials is endorsed.
Little Rock January 10 The Lit tle Rock Street Railway Company faces charges from Alderman Powers of the Eighth Ward over conduct during the Democratic primary for city officers. Powers alleges the firm blocked voters by stopping two car loads near polling places to influence the vote. His supporters tie his political gains to local actions such as grade reductions on West Thirteenth Street and other issues.
Pine Bluff Jan 9. At a late hour this afternoon D. H. Duncan secured an option on the holdings of Capt. J. B. York, Robert York and C. L. Browning, known as]]
York interests in the Bluff City Lumber Company plan a nearly one million dollar deal. D H Duncan and John F Rutherford will each own half the stock. Papers signed. completion expected in days after Duncan returns from New Orleans.
