The Senate heard from President Truman and Senator Vandenberg that world peace hinges on ratifying the United Nations charter. Scioto county residents will face reduced sugar and points for baked goods and beverages as the Office of Price Administration begins a new rationing period. Mary Louise Neal a six year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Lawrence Neal of Slab Run is in serious condition at Portsmouth General hospital with a fractured left hip and internal injuries from being struck about 850 pm Thursday by a car driven by John W DeCessna of Columbus 48. The incident occurred in front of 1311 Second Street. The father who was in a parked car absolved the driver and witness Robert Nunley 1312 Second Street also cleared the DeCessna car of blame. Police reported there were no tire marks.
A public accountant testified at the Nevins bribery trial that two Dayton gamblers, Joseph Parisi and Ralph Schear, earned a net profit of $500000 from a $3700000 gross take over four years at the Silver Dollar gambling house in Clark County. David E. Flagle said 1941 to 1944 tax returns showed the figures.
