First Lady Of Courage Helen Keller Turns 75
World hails Helen Keller on her 75th birthday with tributes from leaders, doctors and charities. Firemen Learn to Fight Real Blazes at Area School
Ohio Valley Fire Fighters Association held a two day fire school at the Lucasville Fairgrounds sponsored by Lucasville local. Dozens of volunteers from numerous departments attended lectures and demonstrations on electrical chemical and oil fires first aid gas masks hose layouts arson investigation and salvage. The session ended with instruction on the mutual aid plan of the Goodyear A-planta unit and emphasized calling the fire department first.

Jackson Co Man Killed in Head On Crash at Gillis Crossing
Billy Castor, 28, of Cove Route 1, was killed early Sunday when his car collided with a freight train at Gillis Crossing on Route 124, one mile west of Jackson. Castor, a former carman’s helper for Detroit Toledo and Ironton, was returning home after taking a girlfriend to her place following a dance in Wilkesville. He suffered a fractured skull and possible internal injuries as his car was crushed and the engine torn out.
