Two Die and Nine Hurt in Ironton Bus Car Crash

A Greyhound bus collided with a pleasure car at Fourth and Etna streets in Ironton. Mrs Lillian Estes and her 4 month old daughter Glenna Estes died. Five other children were in hospital with injuries including skull fracture and possible eye loss. Driver Fred Stapf was treated and discharged. Three more crashes nearby left three injured after heavy rain storms.

Man Arrested In Store Robbery At Jones Drugstore

Leo Roberts age 22 of 2350 Charles street was arrested on a breaking and entering charge after being found hidden behind a rear store fixture at Jones drugstore lth and Hutchins streets at 2 25 a m Sunday. Patrolmen Salisbury and Mucha arrested him after proprietor Stanley Jones reported a forced entry. Police found merchandise on his person and other goods missing.

Kidnap Bandits Slain in Deselm Farmyard Battle

In Deselm Illinois two outlaws terrorizing Indiana and Illinois in gunfights and kidnappings were cornered by about 100 officers. One outlaw was slain and the other wounded after a 20 minute firefight. identities were disputed between Ray Leach and Orelle Easton with James Brekke named for the wounded man. A captive farmer and his four year old son were freed as authorities closed in.

Park guard Edward Clapp Dies by His Own Hand

In Philadelphia on June 26 75 year old Fairmount park guard Edward Clapp was found dead in the park with a pistol in his hand. A note to a brother explained his plan to end his life. Police report says he died of a heart attack during the act.

Lufthansa Mission i, a regular Arequipa to La Paz flight, was believed forced to land in the Andes during a June 26 storm. The craft had seven aboard including the pilot, mechanic, radio operator, and two Lima priests passengers.
